Dealers Do You Have Google My Business Turned On?

Search engines have gotten very smart over the past couple decades. So more than likely if your car dealership, motorcycle store or RV Shop has been in business for a while it will show up in Bing, Yahoo and Google when customers search for your business name or related keywords and even better show its location on a map.

However, you can take your business listing to the next level by signing up for Google’s free My Business service. With Google My Business (GMB) you can make sure your listing stands on Google Search and Maps out when customers look online.

Here is how to start.

1.      Create a Google Account for your business – you may already have one a personal account so you might want to create a separate Google Account for your business. You can do that at:

2.      Go to Google My Business and sign in. You can search for an existing business or if you have a new business that Google does not know about yet you can add it. Alternatively if you find your business in search or maps and claim it.

3.      Update the business information like the address, hours, phone, attribute tags, a business description, photos and more!

4.      Verify the changes – once you have made the changes and Google has accepted them, you can click to verify the business. This process will not only link you account to the list but publish the changes once the verification process has been completed. You can verify updates via email, phone or post card.

There could be instances in which someone has already claimed your business? Perhaps an employee had claimed it or a previous owner. If it is someone already in your organization, they can add you to the account. If it is someone you do not recognize then you will have to request ownership and follow Google’s directions to claim your business.
